No cages. Just connection.
Almost Home Cat Rescue MKE is a free-roam space where cats can be themselves — bridging the gap between rescue and forever home. Since 2021, we’ve helped over 700 cats and kittens find loving homes.
We’re a different kind of rescue.

We welcome visitors to spend time with our cats and check out the space FOUR days per week during our Open Houses. Stop by on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Adoption applications can be submitted whether you’ve just seen a cat online or have visited them at the rescue or in foster care.
Everyone is required to fill out an adoption application. Once your application has been submitted, our Adoption Coordinator will reach out and help ensure you and the cat you’ve selected are a good match. We’ll also walk you through medical and behavioral records and the polices and services available to you.
-
Our cats and kittens aren’t kept in cages. Instead, they live together in an open room(s) where they’re free to explore, socialize and express their true personalities. It creates a “homey” environment and allows you to truly get to know them before choosing to adopt.
-
We would love for you to meet cats that are in our fostering program! Even if it’s for a first-time meet-and-greet, please fill out an adoption application for that specific cat.
Our Adoption Coordinator will reach out and determine a time for the meet-and-greet at a mutually-agreed upon location. This may be the foster home or at the rescue, depending on the comfortability of the cat.

One-hundred percent of your contribution directly impacts the rescue's operations and the cats in our care. Donations help provide food, litter, routine and specialized medical care, spay and neuter surgeries, care and wellness supplies and more.
In 2025 alone, the rescue spent $13,142 in these types of supplies to continue our life-saving work. Your generosity helps make these efforts possible!
