We adopted one of our kitties through them, was a very good experience.

My mom has rescued a cat from here I would happily recommend this rescue very friendly and straightforward
-
The staff/volunteers at Almost Home dedicate so much of their time to make sure that the cats there have the best quality of life pre-adoption through post-adoption. I fully recommend Almost Home Cat Rescue MKE for anyone interested in becoming a cat parent or for anyone who is looking to add another furball into their family!

AHCRM is such an amazing group of people who really truly care about not just the kitties, but who adopts them!!! No kitty goes unloved!!! I am honored to be able to work with such a great organization!!!!
-
This is an amazing cat shelter! They take amazing care of their cats and run an excellent establishment. I love this place and I would absolutely rate this place 5 stars!
-
There are rare moments when we get to experience caregivers like Almost Home Cat Rescue.
At Almost Home it is an open playing field for the kitties with vertical and horizontal challenges and big screen TV's for their evening entertainment. Bowls of great food and water are always available for them. They have special areas for newcomers until they get adjusted to the new family members. If I were a cat, I would not want to leave Almost Home, it has everything I would want...i.e.new friends, great care, frequent visitors and plenty to eat. I visit often and have always experienced joy and lots of love from both directions.
-
Almost Home is a cage free, free roaming rescue where the cats can move about the room and play.
Big windows give them a view of the street where many of the neighbors stop to look in on the cats.
The neighboring day care walk the children just to see thE cats and kittens up for adoption.
Dogs being walked are also enjoying the cats in the windows.
The rescue is clean, well taken care of, and the lack of pet smell is refreshing

Both my wife and I were very impressed with how well-set up and clean the entire shelter was kept, and we chatted with Stephen, who as a founder of Almost Home, could tell us all about the place and the organization. I kept coming back for visits during open house, and realized that Almost Home was the place I wanted to volunteer. Every volunteer there goes through training and supervised shadowing before taking on their own shifts. I've now seen Almost Home from both sides - visitor and volunteer - and I can say that it's always a place I look forward to going to. They are totally committed to caring for cats and kittens and finding them forever homes!
-
They really care about cats and the community! They go above and beyond to take care of their babies and find them homes. Visiting Almost Home feels like a home, the open environment for the kitties gives them space to get comfy, especially when people come to see their possible new fur babies! It really makes a difference for those kitties. Thank you all your hard work!
-
Almost Home is a cageless facility which helps with the adoption process as the kitties are used to interacting. Every cat is vetted and helped until they are healthy. They recently saved two kitties with FIP using the very expensive protocol. They will do what it takes to save a life if they can.
-
Almost Home Cat Rescue MKE is a wonderful organization! They are Milwaukee's only cage free shelter and the cats are much happier for it! It's always wonderful to see all of the cats and kittens roaming free and playing. You get to know their personalities much better!
-
A great shelter with great, passionate people at the helm. You can tell so much love has gone into creating the space that our cats call home (for a short while), and the volunteers treat the animals as their own.
I look forward to coming in multiple times a week to volunteer or spend time socializing with the animals, and it’s amazing that it’s open for the public to do the same. Such a wonderful organization!
-
Almost Home is a blessing to the Milwaukee community, as they take in, medically care for, and socialize street cats, giving them a chance at life. They know that all cats deserve a chance and can be wonderful companions.
Everything they do is high quality. You can trust them fully to do the best for the cats of Milwaukee. Please support when you are able, whether through donations, fostering, or adoption. It’s a desperately needed organization for this area, as we have so many cats on the streets.

This organization started as a virtual community to support feline care, rescue, and adoption and provides community support and continued service to the feline community & their humans. The volunteers are super, and their location is awesome, and open to everyone! Please stop in, donate, utilize the community pantry, and be part of this mission!
-
The facility is well staffed, kept spotless, clean and that cats have everything plus, the would need. The adoption rate is over the top and the staff helpful, nice and communicative.
I am a fairly new volunteer and find the staff very knowledgeable and appreciative.
-
I adopted my kittens from Almost Home Cat Rescue MKE. I chose Almost Home because I volunteer there + I fell in love with them.
What I also love about Almost Home is they are the only cage free shelter, the cats are enjoying life in a beautiful cat room and I know I can trust their fosters.
-
Just wanted to give a special thank you to Almost Home Cat Rescue MKE.
Shortly after my apartment fire, they reached out to offer help and were kind enough to take me to Petco and buy some necessities for my kitties and even went as far to get me a new cat tree.
If you’re ever looking for a shelter to donate to, this is the one!
-
Absolutely love that the kitties get to have a space that resembles a home like environment and they can free roam.
No small "cages" or cold noisy environment that often stresses them out causing health issues.
Anyone can come in and spend time with them! So fun! Very warm and inviting and everyone is very welcoming!
Definitely a must see.

Almost Home Cat Rescue MKE stands above others for a few reasons.
They are an all volunteer shelter and all monies are used for the care of the kitties.
The shelter takes in strays, non-socialized kitties, abused, injured and very sick cats to include FIV and FELV diagnosed kitties.
They also work with people that are having behavior issues with their own cats and who want to work with them so as not to surrender them. Because helping kitties with behavior and shelter related stresses, they have a cage free environment within their shelter. The cats have large areas to roam and interact almost as much as being in a home.
-
This organization does outreach to other rescues with supplies, funding and assistance in trapping, feeding and getting information out to people that can assist. There is a pantry at their location and if people find they are in need of assistance with food and other supplies, they can stop in at their location and receive products that can get them through tough situations.
-
Almost Home Cat Rescue MKE also do community outreach by partnering with other shelters to take in adoptable kitties, kitties that would probably be euthanized because of lack of funds or lack of resources to work with non-socialized kitties, and those with FIV and FELV so that they can be placed in loving homes. They also take adoptable cats out of shelter facilities and adopt them through Almost Home when shelters are overburdened with surrenders.

Best cat shelter I’ve ever been to! The volunteers are very nice and informative and they treat their cats very well. Absolutely would recommend to anyone.
